Maybe—but a country not appearing on a restricted list is only the beginning. You need the specific program to accept your residence and identity, the required platform to work in your location, the post-evaluation account type to be available, and a usable reward-payment route. These can differ inside one brand. Check them before paying for an evaluation, then check the trading rules against your strategy. The current firm policies linked below were reviewed September 25, 2026; they may change, and your checkout and agreement govern your own purchase.
The six gates before a prop-firm purchase
| Gate | What to verify | Why a superficial “yes” fails |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Exact provider and product | CFD challenge, CME-futures evaluation, instant account or another named program; account size and purchase date. | A brand can sell several unrelated products with different eligibility and rules. |
| 2. Who and where you are | Citizenship, permanent residence, physical trading location, age, individual/company status, sanctions and prior-account exclusions as the firm's policy defines them. | A residency-only answer can miss a nationality restriction, or vice versa. |
| 3. Platform and market | Required MT4/MT5, Match-Trader, cTrader, TopstepX, Tradovate, etc.; exact symbols and data entitlement. | The firm may sell a program locally but not the platform your automation or strategy needs. |
| 4. Next account stage | Evaluation, simulated funded stage, optional live funded stage; whether progression is automatic, conditional or unavailable in your country. | Passing the evaluation does not by itself establish eligibility for every later account type. |
| 5. Identity and payment | Accepted ID, account-name match, payment card/bank country, KYC deadline, payout method and payee currency. | Checkout success is not proof you can later pass KYC or receive a reward. |
| 6. Trading-rule fit | Exact drawdown clock, permitted strategy/news/holding behavior, payout buffer and restrictions at each stage. | “Available in my country” does not mean your normal trades survive the contract. |
Treat a failed hard gate as a stop, not as a problem to solve with a VPN, another person's card or a different claimed address. Treat an unknown gate as not verified, not available. If the provider's help article and signed-in checkout disagree, ask the provider for written clarification on the exact program and account stage before paying.
The same country can have several different answers
The following are examples of why the gates matter, not a ranked shortlist of firms or an exhaustive legal map.
United States: accepted is not the same as platform-compatible
FundedNext's U.S. CFD guide describes U.S. access to Stellar 1-Step, 2-Step, Lite and Instant products, but says current U.S. clients use Match-Trader rather than MT4/MT5. It also says the U.S. route does not support MetaTrader EAs, and the 15% challenge-stage reward available on some other routes does not apply. A manual trader who can work in Match-Trader and a MetaTrader-EA trader therefore reach different decisions even before comparing loss rules. FundedNext's separate U.S. overview also names distinct CFD and futures programs; never transfer the CFD platform result to its futures branch.
FTMO's U.S. partnership announcement describes a tailored FTMO/OANDA simulated-trading route for U.S. residents. That is not evidence that every non-U.S. FTMO challenge page or platform setting applies unchanged to a U.S. purchase. Open the actual FTMO US checkout and agreement for its current product. These examples establish product segmentation, not a legal recommendation that either firm is suitable for a U.S. reader.
Canada: confirm the account path, not just the flag
Topstep's eligibility policy expressly says Canadian traders can earn a funded account through its master-account structure. That specific statement is stronger than an absence from a restricted list. It still does not choose a Combine size, prove a particular bank's reward route or guarantee progression. Verify the account and payout terms offered to your Canadian identity and trading platform before purchase. Other firms need their own checks; Topstep's answer cannot be generalized to them.
Europe and the UK: one region label can hide a later-stage difference
Topstep's same eligibility policy lists Germany among countries eligible for an Express Funded Account but not a Live Funded Account under the current policy. Its page says those traders can receive payouts in the XFA stage; absence of LFA eligibility is not the same as “no payout.” A German futures trader who only wants a simulated funded path has a different answer from one whose goal requires a live-account invitation. Do not extrapolate this Germany-specific Topstep rule to all EU countries, all firms or a UK resident.
FTMO's CFD eligibility FAQ lists categorical and residency restrictions and narrowly defined EEA-residency/bank exceptions for some nationality cases. That is a reminder to inspect the firm's defined identity test, not merely the country where the laptop happens to be today. UK and EEA are not synonyms, and a trading firm can define an exception differently from an immigration or tax rule. This guide does not decide someone's legal status.
Why the TSB country badge is useful—and limited
TSB's U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, UAE and Germany directories are research filters, not admission certificates. The current country-page contract distinguishes No restriction mapped, Verify and Unavailable; it explicitly says an unlisted country still needs official checkout, KYC, payment and current policy checks. A firm page can show a program rule fit score while its country status requires verification. Do not combine them into one “approved for you” badge.
Start with your country directory to find the exact firm and program. Open the firm's official country and program sources from that record. Save the date, the URL or agreement version and the reason a status is Verify. Then perform the six-gate check above. If the directory and today's firm policy disagree, today's official contract is controlling for your purchase and the TSB listing needs correction. A promo code does not resolve the conflict.
Your trading history is the second decision—not proof of eligibility
Once the provider and account route pass the access gates, ask a different question: would your normal trading survive this program? Use a representative chronological sample of your own closed trades, not an average win rate. For example, a U.S. trader may pass FundedNext's residence gate but fail the workflow gate because their only verified execution process uses an MT5 EA. A German trader may accept Topstep's XFA-only path yet still breach the selected Combine's intraday loss threshold in Replay. These are possible decision patterns, not asserted outcomes for any real trader.
TSB's Prop Replay can test imported trades against a reviewed exact program and stage where the rule model and source history are supported. Inspect the first failure point, daily/equity headroom, trade-day definition and payout blocker, and label anything the available closed-trade file cannot prove—especially intraday equity paths or unrecorded costs. TSB's AI Coach can go deeper into the selected recorded personal trade history: repeated session, setup, sizing, fee, exit or plan-compliance patterns, with evidence references and limitations. It cannot authenticate your passport, approve your country, see an absent intraday peak or overrule a firm's current agreement. Use the product to test strategy fit after eligibility, not to manufacture eligibility.
Before checkout: one-page evidence card
Save this card for one intended purchase, then repeat it if the program, residence, platform, or rule version changes:
| Field | What to write |
|---|---|
| Identity and route | Citizenship, residence, current trading location, individual/company status; the provider's stated test—not private ID numbers in a shared document |
| Contract | Firm, named program, size, evaluation and later account stages, current source URL/date and signed-in checkout |
| Access | Explicitly permitted / restricted / verify for this product and stage; provider support answer if ambiguous |
| Operations | Available platform, symbols, data feed, automation/news/holding permissions and payment rail |
| Economics | Checkout in your currency, refund conditions, payout criteria, buffer, provider costs and reward method |
| Trade fit | Source-history coverage, replay rule version, first failure, unverified intraday fields and a realistic attempt budget |
If the access row remains uncertain, do not let a favorable replay or discount turn it green. If the access row passes but the rule row fails, compare a different program, not a different citizenship story. If both pass, verify the actual checkout and account agreement, then keep the terms and receipts for any purchase you independently choose to make.
Questions readers will ask
Can I join if my country is not on a restricted list? Possibly. That only means the particular list does not show a restriction. Confirm the program's identity, location, platform, KYC, payout and account-stage terms. The TSB No restriction mapped status is deliberately not an approval.
Can I buy while traveling? Do not infer permission from your home residence. Some firms consider your physical location and may review activity from a restricted country. Topstep's policy explicitly tells users not to trade while traveling through an ineligible country. Ask the specific provider before travel; do not use location-masking to bypass a rule.
If I pass an evaluation, am I guaranteed a live funded account? No. The evaluation, simulated funded and optional live stages can have separate country gates and discretionary transitions. The Topstep Germany example illustrates a valid XFA path without an LFA route under current policy; it does not imply that a simulated payout is unavailable.
Can TSB tell me which firm will accept me? It can surface a dated mapped restriction or verification warning and help compare reviewed programs. Only the provider can decide your exact application and agreement; TSB Replay and AI Coach test your recorded trading fit, not legal access.
